ActiveBoard Touch 88 Calibration and Windows 10

Hi,

we have several (10) ActiveBoards (mostly Touch 88"), nine of them are usb-connected to Windows 10 PCs, one is usb-connected to a Windows 8.1 PC.
All of the Boards have the current firmware (5.36) and the newest driver (5.17.13 x64) installed.
Calibration works fine on all boards but the Win 10 PCs seem to randomly forget the calibration (after a few reboots), the Win 8.1 PC doesn't.

So I checked the registry on all PCs yesterday and found out that only the Win 8.1 PC has the here (https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=1234) mentioned reg-key. It cannot be found on the Win 10 PCs (all of them).

I also exported the key from the Win 8.1 PC, imported it into one Win 10 PC and deleted the key under "Calibration", re-calibrated with the local Administrator logged in, but no success.

Does Win 10 still save the calibration at the same location in the registry or is it a different one now?

Do you have any idea why all of the boards connected to a Win10 PC randomly lose their calibration and how this issue can be fixed?

Thanks for your help!

Alex

  • The calibration settings in Windows 10 should be in the same location as they have been in prior versions of Windows.

Do the users who are attempting to calibrate have full Read, Write, Modify, and Execute permissions to this item in the registry?
  • Yes, they do.
Even when the local admin calibrates the board, the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ACTIVhidmini\Parameters\Calibration" is NOT created. And that's the case with all Win 10 PCs.

  • That's what the registry looks like on all Win 10 PCs. There is no ACTIVhidmini entry under services.
Any ideas yet, how to fix it?

    Thanks.

  • We are researching this particular issue further on our end, @AlexMSNK.

Once we have something further, we will advise you.
  • Thanks!
  • Jarrad, it's been a while now. Any news on your end?
  • Hi AlexMSNK,

The calibration data is stored on the board. This data is written to the board by the Promethean calibration program.

If the calibration is going out this could be caused by a number of things, including:

    Screen resolution changing
    Screen scaling changing
The projected image is physically moved
The projected image is digitally changed (zoom, lens shift, corner adjust etc)
Window calibration potentially overwriting the Promethean calibration data

Could any of these changes be taking place?

    Thank you,

    Pam

So you are saying that in Windows 10 the calibration settings are no longer saved in the registry and that there is no more reg key
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ACTIVhidmini\Parameters\Calibration" ?

Because that was/is my initial problem.

All the boards have been working perfectly with Windows 7/8 (above mentioned key was created), the problems only occured after upgrading to Windows 10.

Usually the screen resolution is set and then never changes.
Also none of your other suggestions apply.

Still, with all Win 10 PCs the calibration is lost after a few reboots.
So, how do I fix this?
