Cables and Connections

Hello all, I bought a PRM-AB2-01 a few years ago (probably 2006). Due to work travel requirement, I stored it since 2009 and lost the required cables and connections and can't remember what they are. On the other hand, I also lost the driver software and tools. I have sent requests to Promethean Support multiple times with no response. Can someone kindly help me identify the required cables and connections and where I can buy them in order to get it up and running again?

    Thanks for posting on the Support Community.

    Promethean no longer manufactures the ActivBoard 2nd Generation (PRM-AB2-01) as such cables and components for this may be harder to come by as these haven't been manufactured since 2009.  
    We'd recommend searching online for these in your area. 

    I've also searched for any support cases for you, but haven't seen any come in. Did you fill in and submit a ticket from the below link?

  • Thank you Adam for your reply. Can you identify the required connections? I used to connect my AB2 to a laptop and a projector, but cannot remember the shape or number or where to connect them. I have 2 cables but not sure what is missing or how to connect. I have a pile of cables at home but can't tell which is which. I attached a photo of those cables still connected to my AB2. You may kindly tell me what is missing, if that is possible.

  • Thank you Adam. I found the missing cables. Finally, my AB2 is up. What software do I need to download to operate AB2 using 64-bit Win 10 tablet PC? I have downloaded and installed 9.03 firmware and Activdriver 5.17.13.x64. Whenever I try to run Activdriver, a pop up screen shows asking if I need to repair or uninstall Activdriver. Please guide me.
  • I found many scattered documents on your website with different products that are brain twisting. If there is a one stop document that can tell me how to install and run the ab2 from a-z, that would help.

    Thanks for posting. 

    You only need the ActivDriver in order to get the ActivBoard to work interactively with your ActivPens.
    The ActivInspire software compliments the ActivBoard with the interactive pens.

    It sounds like you may have an error with the ActivDriver that would need addressing first.
    You can try to uninstall the ActivDriver by following the steps on the below link:

    Once uninstalled, restart your computer and run the installation for the ActivDriver again:

    I appreciate your help.

    I deleted the files you recommended and uninstalled Activdriver. An "ActiveDriver Setup" modify setup pop up screen showed asking me if I want to repair, uninstall or close. I chose "repair" and followed the instructions. It asked me to restart the computer, and I did.

    Assuming that is fine, I have 3 more issues:

    1. what is the next step to run the activboard?

    2. I also noticed you mentioned Activinspire in your last message where no reference to installing this software was explained. Did I misssomethng?

    3. Where can I buy an Activpen?

    Once the driver is installed and the board is connected to the computer, you should be good to go and use the ActivPens.
    You can make the most out of presenting by using the ActivInspire software which can be downloaded from the link below:

    If you don't have an ActivPen, we would recommend contacting a Promethean reseller in your area.

    I installed ActivInspire. When I attempted to upgrade ActivInspire, and entered the serial number and the product number, it gave me "invalid serial number" message. The serial number is 5361204092 and the product number is PRM-AB2-01. Why is that happening?
