Can anyone confirm that ActivInspire works on Mac’s new OS update Big Sur?

Hi Both,

Thanks for posting.  Currently Big Sur is  not supported in our current released software versions, ActivInspire 2.19 and ActivDriver 5.18.19.

This is not to say that they will not work but we are still testing and working on supported releases.

I will escalate this so that you can both be added to the enhancement request for support to be added.

Hi Patrick,

 

Our development team have reviewed this enhancement for ActivInspire to be supported on Big Sur Mac OS 11.0. We are aiming to incorporate support for this OS in a future version of ActivInspire and have an initial target date of December 2020.
Whilst we will make every effort to get the fix within this time frame, please understand that this is a target fix date and may be subject to change but we will of course let you know if this happens.

In the meantime, please continue to use your current OS version until we announce that this has been released.

Hey, not sure if I can put it here.
But one of the bugs is that the desk annotation won’t work. When activated, there is a white screen. You cannot access the dock or anything else. Plus the screen capture function for a paperboard doesn’t work either.

Hi,

On the concerned computer I’m currently running Activinspire Professional Edition 2.18.68238.

Before the update everything was running fine.

I’ve updated macOS to Big Sur 11.1 and since then, without touching options, le desk annotations won’t work. When in use I had access to the deck etc. But not anymore.

I assume it comes from the update.

Thanks for your reply. As discussed in this forum, ActivInspire is not currently supported on Big Sur. This could explain why you are experiencing issues. We are expecting a new release of ActivInspire in early January which will support Big Sur. I am running MAC os Big Sur and I have downloaded the ‘personal edition’ version 2.21 69365 and I cannot do ‘camera’ shots and it does not seem to be compatible at all 🙁 Unfortunate as I am Day 1 of a 5 week intensive course and it doesn’t work 🙁

Thanks for your post.

The Personal edition of ActivInspire does have a limited number of tools available compared to the Professional edition.

It is possible therefore that the task you are trying to carry out requires a tool not available on your current edition.

Have you checked with your school to see if they have a licence which they could provide to you in order to upgrade to Pro?

You mention that you say it is not compatible. What are you seeing exactly leads you to believe this to be the case?

Please also exaplain exactly what steps you are taking to try and take Camera shots (which tools, etc) and what they are of.
