I’m on an Apple. When I am using the typing tool and insert a tab I’m no longer able to type. Other long-time users in my team have been accustomed to this flaw for some time. Any known fixes?

I’ve tried to replicate this, but when I use the tab option, this shifts to the right as expected and I can continue to type.
Could you help by confirming your ActivInspire version (found under ActivInspire>About ActivInspire) and your OS version.
If you can help to clarify the exact steps that you are doing this would be appreciated so I can help to replicate.
