Is there anything that substitutes the android apps or should we give up hope and use it as a not t9o smart SmartBoard?

What Promethean product/ActivPanel are you using?

It may be that additional codecs are being used that aren’t supported and that require additional codecs, installing third party applications (depending on hardware) is how you would achieve a solution around this.
Or alternatively playing from a computer connected to a Promethean ActivPanel
