Since updating my Mac to macOS Big Sur, the equation editor in ActivInspire “fails to initialise Java VM”.

      Running:

      macOS 11.0.1

      ActivInspire version 2.18.68238

      Java 8 version 271

      Hello David,

      Thank you for your post.

There is a more recent version of ActivInspire, that can be downloaded from our Support Portal: https://support.prometheanworld.com/product/-activinspire-/.

Please, be informed that we do not support macOS Big Sur with ActivInspire yet.

We suggest you make sure you only have one version of Java installed on your computer. Please, uninstall all additional versions of Java from your computer, including the latest, and then try to reinstall the latest version and try to launch ActivInspire.

Should you have any more queries, please get back in touch and we will be happy to assist you further.

      Kind regards,

      Arianna

      Hey Arianna,

Any update on a timeline for when macOS Big Sur will be supported? And, separately, M1 chips? Thanks!

        Hi Joey,

Thanks for your post. We still haven’t been provided with an ETA for support for these two things. I will add your post to the current enhancement requests we have open internally in support of these.

        Kind regards,
        Adam H

        Hi again Joey,

I’ve just heard from our team internally that support for Big Sur will be coming in the ActivInspire 2.21 release. This release was expected before the end of this year, however it’s now due to be released early in the new year.

Please subscribe to the announcement section of the forum so that you’ll receive an email when this version has been released – https://community.prometheanworld.com/forums/forum/announcements/

        Kind regards,

        Adam H
