      Aloha,

We have a 2 MacBook Airs running Catalina, and one of them is having difficulty using the pen with the whiteboard.

One of the MacBooks work just fine and is able to use the pen with the whiteboard.  For the other MacBook, the pen is able to trace where you go, but no ink is displayed on the board.  The pen also cannot open up outside apps.

We’re unsure what could be causing it since we set up both MacBooks identically.  Do you have any suggestions on what we could do?

      Thank you.

      Hello Shawna,

When connecting a Mac running macOS 10.14 or later to an ActivBoard or an ActivPanel, if ActivDriver is not working and you have no interaction, or if the Mac gestures are not working, you will need to enable activhardwareservice and activmgr.

Please note that you will need admin access to make the below changes.

Go to System Preferences and select Security & Privacy.

      Click the Privacy tab.

For macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, select Input Monitoring.

Click the lock to make changes.

Find activhardwareservice and activmgr in the list and check the box next to each entry to enable it.

If they are not present, click the + to add them manually from the ActivDriver folder on your Mac.

If an entry is already enabled, click the – to remove it, then re-add it.

Click the lock again to solidify the changes.

Please click on link below for the reference article.

      Hope this helps.

      Thank You,

      hi,

An interactive whiteboard is a large, interactive screen that connects a computer and a projector. The projector projects the computer’s desktop onto the screen of the interactive whiteboard. The user can control the computer by using a special pen, finger or another tool to touch the screen of the interactive whiteboard.I have always felt so much connected to this industry since my graduation years. When I visited a seminar held in Denver, I met Mr. John who is a researcher. He has recently published a research paper (https://www.marketdecipher.com/report/interactive-white-board-market) for his firm on this specific industry.

what do we do if input monitoring doesn’t give us an option to click ” + ”  ???

I have numerous teaches who have updated everything and they can calibrate but the pen never writes in active inspire.  when we go to check these settings in input monitor, there is nothing there, and no way to ADD.

      Hello jbersani,

      Thank you for your post.

I’m not sure what you mean by the “+” Can you please confirm?

Can you tell me a little more regarding the set up of your ActivBoard/computer?

      Kind regards,

      Craig

in Article 1737 posted above, the instructions say if you don’t see these 2 items in the input monitoring section of system preferences.  you should add it.

Find activhardwareservice and activmgr in the list and check the box next to each entry to enable it.

If they are not present, click the + to add them manually from the ActivDriver folder on your Mac.

“Click the +”  that “+” is what im referencing.  there are NO item in input monitoring AND there is no “+” to add any.

more about the board set up.  well, MacBook Air, running most recent versions of Active Driver and ActiveInspire. all hardware and software were operating until machine was upgraded to Mac OS Catalina.  now, board beeps when plugged in and you can go so far as calibrating, but then in active inspire the pen is not recognized at all.   we have tried completely uninstalling active inspire, active driver uninstaller launched terminal, but then didn’t do anything.

      Hi jbersani,

      Thank you for your post.

You say that the pen doesn’t respond in ActivInspire. Is it only when using this software that you have this issue? Does the pen work outside of Inspire?

If so, please open ActivInspire and go to “preferences”. Under the “Settings” tab go to “Dual Mode ActivBoards” and change the “Touch Interoperability” setting and test your pen again.

Unusual however, that there would not be either “+” or “-” buttons under the list of programs for Input Monitoring.

Please let us know if you are still having trouble after attempting the suggestion above and we will look to contact you directly to investigate this matter further.

      Kind regards,

      James

The open does not respond outside of Active Inspire.  It will calibrate and thats it.  nothing in finder, and won’t select tools in Active Inspire.
