Mouse cursor jumping

PC Lenovo M70E, Win 7 x64, active driver 5.7. A problem has recently surfaced where the mouse cursor will be static in the corner of the screen and look like it is juddering.  I only appear to be able solve the problem by removing USB from the panel to the PC, and immediately plugging it back in again.  Rebooting the PC does not fix the issue, unplugging and plugging back in the mouse (USB optical) does not fix the issue. Any ideas?

  • Hello Davejonesuk,

We noticed that the ActivDriver does appear to be out of date. For this issue, we would recommend updating to the latest version of ActivDriver.

Please first uninstall the driver: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=1093

Once uninstalled restart the computer and install the latest version, which can be found here: https://support.prometheanworld.com/product/activdriver

We would also recommend attempting with another known working USB cable to ensure that there is nothing wrong with the cable itself.

Finally, please make sure that no errors are present in the device manager. More information can be found: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=1039

Please let us know if the issue continues.

    Kind regards,
    Promethean Technical Support

no driver is the latest from website 5.17.13, sorry my bad typing.  Device manager is clear of errors.
  • Hi davejonesuk,

    Thank you for that information.

Can you please provide us with the model number for the Promethean Hardware you are connected to?

If you are using any extensions, boosters, or a wall box, please bypass them, and connect to the hardware directly with a 3m cable. Does the issue still occur?

    Kind Regards,

  • Activpanel AP5-75   no extensions or boosters, but the USB is connected via USB 3.0 face plate in the trunking by the teachers desk.  Also just had another go and the PC needed a reboot before it picked up the USB correctly and the mouse started working normally.  without a reboot If you removed the activpanel USB from the PC mouse would work only till the activpanel usb was connected then it would go back to it's corner an judder..

Will try a seperate usb cable directly from panel to PC and let you know how that goes.
