With regard to the issue raised, please can you let us know the model number of your ActivBoard (not serial number), this can be found usually on the left hand side of the ActivBoard on a silver sticker.
Have you downloaded the ActivDriver to your computer? This allows for the interaction with your ActivPen and touch (if you have an ActivBoard Touch/500 series). If you haven’t yet downloaded this (as it’s not provided with the ActivInspire software), this may be where the issue is. If this is downloaded, what colour is the flame on the top left of the ActivBoard when you connect the USB cable from your ActivBoard to the computer? Do other computers which work on other ActivBoards (preferably of the same model) work on this ActivBoard? This will help us to identify if the fault remains with the ActivBoard or computer.
